Richard Allen Jones is a native of Okaloosa County in the northwest panhandle of Florida. Richards' recording career began in the 70's with an LP titled "Gamble For A Love Affair" on Ace Records, the famed rock and roll record label of New Orleans. His second LP titled "Back In The Fold" was released in the early 80's. Both LPs had the production wisdom of James Lancaster and the rhythm section assistance of the former "Dixie Flyers" with Spooner Oldham and James Luther Dickinson on piano. Tommy McClure on bass and on drums from the Atlanta rhythm section, James Stroud. These albums wer recorded in Granada, Mississippi; Boulder, Colorado; Jackson, Mississippi and Memphis Tennessee.

In Memphis, Richard began traveling with Evangelist Jerry Spencer. Through this special ministry, he shared his faith, singing and performing across America, and to India and also to Guatamala, Central America.

In the mid 80’s, Richard Allen pursued his songwriting career in Nashville Tennessee. In 1991, Roy Rogers, “King of the Cowboys”, recorded “Final Frontier”, a song written by Gidget Baird, Dan Paul, Norman De’Vasure and Richard. This song can be found on the RCA label titled, “Roy Rogers Tribute.”

Other songwriting credits include, “If There Wasn’t Any Cows”, and “Every Horse I Ever Rode.” These songs were co-written with Blue Hat Recording artist Luke Reed, and can be heard on Luke’s current cd, titled “Corridos.”

In 93’, Richard goes back to a time we have all been touched by. The old west is the theme of the Blue Roan Record, titled “Cool Water”. This project was produced by John Hardy and contains fourteen original songs. This recording is available for order on compact disc and cassette.

In 2002, Richard recorded another gospel project titled,"Old Camp Meeting Time". Produced by John A. Hardy. Both are available for order on compact disc.

Richard is still writing, recording and performing his songs at various events across the country. You can listen to some of his latest as the rhythm and blues cowboy rides once again as "Reverend Jones and the Hit Men."
